How to extend the life of your electric car battery
Electric cars, designed specifically for city driving, bring a lot of joy to drivers. And in order for an electric car to last much longer, care should be taken for its “heart” - a lithium-ion battery.
Charge the car fully if you are sure of its immediate use (before the trip). Do not leave a full battery idle for more than 8 hours. Otherwise, it may have a bad effect on her future work. The worst option is that the battery will turn into a “brick”.
It is also worth periodically completely discharging the battery once every 3 months and be sure to use it.
An empty charge that lasts 3 days or more degrades performance faster than heavy vehicle use. The same rule applies to batteries with a low charge of about 30%. After all, when idle, an electric car is also capable of draining the battery by about 1% per day.
Excessive use of fast charges (gains 80% in 30 minutes) will shorten battery life. Manufacturers recommend using high-speed chargers no more than once a day and avoid overheating the battery.
Lithium-ion batteries do not tolerate frost well, resulting in reduced mileage and battery degradation. Batteries in electric vehicles don't work well when they're cold. Many electric car models offer a lithium-ion battery heating system. This will reduce power reserve loss and increase battery life.
